Chicago’s Gold Coast: The Folks, The Facades, And The Fables
Please join us in exploring our familiar neighborhood through the eyes of history.
Wednesday, October 28, 2020, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Zoom Webinar
Scottie Perry, a local resident, will be our guide for this event. She is a volunteer docent at the Chicago History Museum, a volunteer at the Pritzker Military Museum & Library, and a guide for walking tours of Graceland Cemetery, Rosehill Cemetery, and the Gold Coast. And by her own admission, she is a true history geek!
Her talk will be illustrated with photographs of our historic community, including its grand homes. Most of the facades of these stately homes are unchanged from their inception. Of course, included will be the “back stories”, featuring a great deal of grandeur, some surprises, and a fair share of tragedies. Many of these residences bear familiar names of those who were instrumental in developing our city.
There is no fee to participate in this Zoom Webinar. However, we hope that you will consider making a donation to GCNA when you register for this event. Your financial support makes it possible for us to offer programs like this.
